TBirds Walk Red Carpet at 66th Annual Thunderbird Awards Ceremony

For Immediate Release: April 18, 2016

Cedar City, UT: Students, faculty, and Staff of Southern Utah University, as well as members of the Cedar City community gathered Saturday night at the Heritage Center Theater to honor those who have gone above and beyond in their duties to Southern Utah University. The event was hosted by the Southern Utah University Student Association (SUUSA) under the direction of Activities Vice President, Kenten Pope.

Nominees were gathered by SUU students, faculty and staff in January of this year, and nominees went through an extensive process before a recipient was chosen. 16 different Awards were up for grabs last night, and each nominee deserved the reward. It was a tough race for all, but in the end everyone had smiles because of their accomplishments to the University.

All nominees, judges and community dignitaries were invited to attend a reception held in their honor earlier last night prior to the Awards Ceremony. It was a great place to meet all of the nominees for that night and gave each nominee an extra special experience before the event.

Mr. Peter Sham from the SUU College of Performing and Visual Arts was the master of ceremonies for the night. Sham kept the energy alive with commentary throughout. Entertainment was brought in by SUUSA to excite and congratulate all in attendance. Student performances were also shown throughout the evening bringing smiles to all.

The 2016 Thunderbird Awards Ceremony highlights and recognizes students, alumni, faculty, and staff of Southern Utah University and community members of Cedar City who go above and beyond in their everyday lives to better the lives of past, present and future T-Birds.
